"A Lesson in Thorns" by Sierra Simone - REVIEW

To whomever is ready this… take a seat, have an open mind and let’s have a little chat, shall we?

I just finished “A Lesson in Thorns” about 45 minutes ago at the time I’m writing this, and I have too many emotions coursing through my body. I am hardly able to make sense of them, but I wanted to write this review with the story fresh in my mind.

6 friends, secrets, sex, mystery, legend, ancient ruins, and exploration of the mind, body, and soul are all woven into the words on these pages in a way that all writers aspire to accomplish.

Too long has it been since we’ve had a stellar series in which the story follows the same characters rather than a series of interconnected standalones.

Too long has it been since we’ve been able to have the EXCITEMENT of a cliffhanger and the rush of waiting for the next book so we can know what happens.

I’ve missed that. The theorizing with your friends about what it all means. The countdowns. The rush.

We have that in SPADES with this series and I couldn’t be more excited.

“A Lesson in Thorns” (Thornchapel #1) by Sierra Simone is magical and otherworldly. It’s sexy and mysterious. It makes your think inwardly about your own desires and needs.

It’s open, honest, expressive, smutty, delicious, heart wrenching, and so beautifully written it makes me think Sierra is a walking dictionary.

I felt a deep, emotional, never to be beaten connection to her “New Camelot” series, but I have a feeling that “Thornchapel” is going to embed thorns deep into my heart that will stay there forever.
